Project Description
Plymouth College of Art‘s annual Fashion Showcase is part of the college’s summer show which sees the college and other buildings around the city transformed into public exhibition spaces where people can visit and explore work from all courses. The Showcase focuses on the designs from final year fashion students and is attended by a range of individuals including industry and press to see students’ innovative and contemporary designs on the catwalk at a professionally-run show. Nub have been working with the college for a number of years providing full production support for the shows including lighting, sound, video, set, staging and drapes for their shows.
Utilising Nub’s extensive in-house rental inventory, a full production design incorporating a distributed Fohhn audio system, large quantities of high CRI Tungsten lighting, custom molton fabric covered set pieces, black wool serge drape and our Alideck staging covered with seamless white high gloss flooring was supplied, setup and operated by our skilled events technicians. Having worked in a range of different venues for this event, flexibility and the ability to quickly respond to changes in circumstances are key and working with Fashion programme leader Ali Braybrook, Nub have provided professional and seamless presentation of garments in venues ranging from large marquees to theatres and lecture spaces.
Working with the college, Nub have provided insight and guidance into how coloured light can react with fabrics and exploring the Samoiloff Effect along with mentoring graphics students in creating content for projection mapped surfaces. Our technical team includes qualified engineers and technicians who can provide valuable insight into the events world to both students and colleagues alike ensuring that all our work follows best practice and modern methods.
