When the Ivybridge Watermark approached Nub to provide a cinema installation within their venue, we were happy to be of assistance.

Having enjoyed a strong relationship with the watermark from day one, Nub knew the space and provided a high quality, professional cinema system to perform the latest cinematic releases.

The Brief

The Watermark’s main auditorium is not a traditional cinema space. The room is designed as a fully modular, multi-purpose space for theatre, presentations, dinners and meetings with or without the 200 capacity retractable seating system.

The principal requirement for the project was to install a fully functioning, automated, cinema system whilst not compromising the ability for the space to continue to meet all of it’s current user’s needs.

Further adding to challenges inside the space was an overhead lighting grid and lack of traditional projection booth.

The Solution

Nub designed, specified and installed a DCI specification compliant cinema installation, The system included LanSAT content delivery and Equality Act compliant listening systems. The installed system fully meets the strict requirements for the playback of commercial release films.

Our team of skilled installers delivered all aspects of the works on-site in four days. This ensured that the space was back up and running as quickly as possible for upcoming bookings.

A Barco DP2k-6E projector, forming the core of the system, is installed in an acoustic enclosure within the auditorium. The entire assembly is mounted on a pantograph system allowing all servicing and maintenance to safely take place at ground level.

7.1 Audio is provided by compact, full range surround speakers; whilst a 7m wide perforated screen captures the imagination of every audience member.

A dual channel infra-red assistive listening system provides an optimised audio mix and audio description. This ensures users who are hard of hearing or partially sighted still enjoy the film experience.

The system is calibrated and tuned to meet the full range of performance requirements of any commercial cinema installation. Including colours to the DCI standard and audio to the Dolby X-Curve.

The cinema is supported by Nub’s maintenance services which include guaranteed call-out response times and regular preventative maintenance.
